Past Performances
IN/EX Dance Project was co-founded by Julia Ferguson, Sarri Sanchez, Ally Voye, Eva Wilder, and Maya Zellman who joined forces while studying dance at UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures. The women of IN/EX instantly developed a shared a vision of creating work together and find their widely varying backgrounds converge in a common aesthetic that values the marriage of intellect and physicality. IN/EX Dance Project embraces a uniquely collaborative approach in its choreographic process. The task of artistic direction is shared among four women so that every piece reflects a collective voice and vision. The company's work has been performed at the Open Space, Highways Performance Space, Electric Lodge, the Los Angeles Theater Center, El Camino College, and the Pasadena Dance Festival. Current IN/EX directors Sanchez, Voye, Wilder, and Zellman all perform with various Los Angeles-based dance companies and teach dance in schools in Los Angeles and Santa Monica.
IN/EX Dance Project exists as a platform for experimentation, collaboration and the creation of unconventional performances. We are dedicated to creating a body of work that includes both original work by the company and that of highly-esteemed international choreographers. We aim to increase the visibility of contemporary modern dance in Los Angeles, making it more accessible to a broad audience base. We also hope to serve as a model for other young artists striving to share work in a professional setting.
